Gus is located in Mercer County, North Dakota. He is NOT in the care of Big Sky Rottwieler Rescue and is being listed as a courtesy to help get this boy a home. We have NOT evaluated him, so all information is coming from his current rescue and foster home.
Here is a wonderful update on Gus. 2-5-19
Hes doing so good lately. Becoming very playful and eager to learn new things.
Just a little more info on this handsome boy. He has been neutered and is up to date on all vaccinations. One of the owners prior to the surrender family contacted us and confirmed that his hind foot was run over by a 4 wheeler. It doesn't seem to affect him in any way. But of course we haven't run him for any distance either. He plays and chases his ball with no favoring of the foot. As for the tail there has been no change so we expect no medical issue present. We can stick our hands in his mouth to get the ball back or to do oral exams with no worries. In the beginning the reason for requesting a knowledgable owner is because he likes to eat alone, but I can now pet him and stand with him while he is eating. I believe extreme hunger was his initial shortcoming. The past owner that had him said he did good with her neutered Male dogs. He will make a great companion as he is very attentive to what we are doing around him. Eager to learn. Again, Thank You for posting our sweet guy.
Good Morning, I am writing in regards to a recent male rottweiler we
took in to our rescue here in North Dakota that was an owner surrender.
Gus is about 6 years old and very much a sweetheart, he has unfortunately
spent the majority of his life locked up in a 4x4 outdoor kennel in ND
with little to no shelter. We are currently fostering him with a wonderful
family and he is doing well and scheduled to be neutered at the end of
January. Gus is a people and attention lover, he minds fairly well, loves
to play ball and such. However he is very dominant and will require
further training aside from that as well, his foster is doing well with
him but I feel he would greatly benefit from being with someone more
familiar of his breed and with more training abilities.
We are a very small rescue and where he is at with his current foster he is still stuck in a (larger) boarding kennel and we would really love to see himindoors with a family where he wants so desperately and deserves to be.
When asked about his tail and his left hind foot from the photos, this is the response.
From what we can tell it looks as though a bone in his foot may have been broken at one time, his tail has old frostbite and seems like something was tied around it for a long time for some reason, you can scratch or rub both and it doesn't bother him at all.
