Have you ever heard of “Special Needs”? I’ve heard that a lot from my foster mom over the last several weeks, and here’s what I think she means… I’ll start with “Special”. My name is Mocha, and I’m probably one of the mellowest dogs you’ll find anywhere. I am a sweet loving girl and I would make the perfect companion to hang out with for the rest of my life. I don’t jump up on you or bark. I don’t try to jump fences or dig. And, although I need some exercise, I don’t want to run or go on long hikes because in my first two years of life I had something called a torn ACL, which healed badly and now gives me trouble. And now, because of the arthritis, my joints get a little bit stiff and I need some medication, so nice slow leisurely walks are what will be best for me.

Well, now you know how “Special” I am, so I’ll tell you what my “Needs” are. I need someone who will offer me a place in their home and in their heart. Someone who will continue with the medications I need for arthritis as well as for hip problems in the future. I need someone who will adore my peculiar walk that results from my arthritis. I need someone who will recognize me for the true and loyal companion I will be. I need someone who will believe that the investment they make in my health will be paid back tenfold with snuggles, kisses and warm welcomes at the front door. I “Need” you.
