Whoever brought George in to surrender must have been very angry – he tested great for us today in all regards. Let’s start with two statements – “1 person pet”, and more importantly, “afraid of everybody”. Please check image #2450. This was the first time George ever met his handler, and all he wanted to do was have loves and give kisses in return. George was easy to leash and walks well on leash. When we go in to leash the dogs, we are in an approximately 3.5’ x 3.5’ cage with the dog. George stood quietly and patiently while the slip leash was placed over his head, and he politely waited to exit his cage until the gate was completely open. His tail was wagging and he had a cute little smile on his face. He never showed one moment of fear the entire time he was with us. He met 1 man and 3 women and liked all of us. He also met other dogs and liked all of them. There was nothing about George which suggested “aggression” – he was calm and quiet with everyone. The last two photos show George trying to get a small heeler’s attention, and then turning away when that attempt was unsuccessful. He responded to the sit command, and immediately went into a good sit. He makes good, non-threatening eye contact, and is interested and engaged in his environment and everything going on. He was quiet both in his cage and out of it. He did not appear to be interested in treats. He very gently took a couple treats which were offered to him, and then he spit them out on the ground. Could be he simply did not care for the treats offered to him. When he was with us this afternoon, he was definitely more interested in the people and loves. He had a very calm demeanor, and never once attempted to jump on anyone. He is about 21-23” tall, and his weight is estimated at 60-70#. The heaviness and the size of the ring on the collar he wears gives me a vision of a chain or rope through that huge, heavy ring when he was leashed outside.

George came in as a surrender - he is available now. He was wonderful when we had him out to take pictures and introduce him to people and other dogs. You can see in his surrender information - he is marked as being afraid of everybody. Well, check out the picture with George and Rob sitting at the picnic table at the pound. So much for the idea George is "afraid of everybody". Picture day was the first time George ever saw Rob, and he clearly was not a bit afraid of him. He was not afraid of any of the rest of us, either. Sunday was also the first time he ever saw the rest of us.

This is #64954, George, a rottie mix who is a surrender because “can’t afford”. He is marked as being compatible as a 1 person pet. He is neutered, housebroken, and use to car rides, and living inside. When he was outside, he was kept fenced, leashed, and kenneled. His sheet says he is afraid of everybody. He is noted to know sit, lay down, come, and no. He is marked as being protective, playful, nervous, active, hyper, aggressive, and jumps a 4’-6’ fence - “chain link” is handwritten on the form. He is noted to bark/howl, roam, react to uniforms, and jump on people. His vaccinations are marked as “unknown”.
