Rufus is a quiet, calm fellow, reddish in color with a coat resembling that of a golden retriever.   He is very gentle and friendly.  The following is some information you may find useful.

He is designated as a special needs dog.  That should not concern any prospective adopter. 

 In his case it simply means that because of a minor problem involving how he processes food, he needs to take two tablets before meals and eat a special dry food (aka, kibbles).  In addition, he should avoid table scraps including fats and meat products.  Period.  That’s it.  Easy.

 Having had him in my pack for several months I can tell you that he is special in a much more important way: he is an absolute dear, a darling fellow who makes no fuss, is so very easy to be with, and wonderful in all respects.

For slightly over 13 months I have been fostering a wonderful dog, Rufus, a husky-GSD mix.  He is neutered UTD on shots, doggy-door trained, walks decently on a leash, gets along well with all people he meets [kidz and catz are unknown],  and is an all-around nice dog; gentle, loving, easy-going,...

 

He has one minor medical problem: he has a problem known as pancreatic insufficiency which apparently keeps him from processing the nutrients in his food.  Thus, before each meal he has to take two tablets that will help him to digest the food and put on weight.  In addition, he has to take a special diet, over-the-counter, Blue Buffalo lamb and rice.
