11/09/2009 - UPDATE:
The new photo is of Rosie at the ocean for her first time last month.  She is doing well and is a very happy puppy.  We love her dearly.  She is a great little traveler.

SURGERY UPDATES:
5/18/09 - My foster Mom picked me up from Dr. Keith today and he said he can't believe how good I am doing already.  Last time I was carrying my leg, but this time I am already walking on it!!  He is really surprised at how well I am doing in such a short time.  Can't keep a beautiful girl like me down.  Girls just wanna have fun, you know!  Dr. Keith want's to see me again on the 27th for my 2-week checkup.  My foster Mom is checking with my adoptive parents to see if they can bring me down for that or if they will wait to take me home until after that visit.  I hope I don't have to wait.  I love the nice woods where they live!  Very peaceful and relaxing with lots of room to play when I get well and I hear I will get boat rides at the lake and wear my own doggy life vest.  Pretty cooool!

5/13/09 - Had my second surgery today and it went great.  Dr. Keith says it wasn't as invasive or intense as my last one.  My foster family went to Disneyland and I got stuck at the vet getting surgury, what's up with that???

3/25/09 - Had my 8-week check up with x-rays and all is great!! I now get to take 10 minute walks twice a day for 2-weeks and then 4-times a day for 2-weeks and then I can do all my normal activities. HOOORAY!!!

2/25/09 - Here we are at the 4-week mark. Yeah, half way through my rehab! Dr. Keith, once again confirmed that I am doing great. He is having my foster Mom & Dad do flexion and extension of my leg. I am walking on it fairly regularly now, rather than carrying it. I am raring to go and have been trying to get Bree, my Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, foster sister to play with me, but my foster Mom & Dad say, No. I can't understand why they won't let me bounce around and have fun. I am going on short walks also, so I get to work my leg and put more weight on it.

2/13/09 - Talk about my LUCKY DAY! I got to go see my vet Keith today and he says I am doing great! Using my leg a little and I have good extension. I really love everyone at the vet clinic. I couldn't wait to get pets and treats! Everyone was very happy to see me and see how well I was doing and what a good attitude I have. I was quite the social butterfly and had to greet everyone. A really cute BoxerX boy came in while I was waiting my turn, but my foster Mom said I couldn't play with him because of my leg. What a party pooper! Can't wait until I am free to run, jump and play as much as I want.

2/4/09 - Well, as you can see in my new photos, I had my first knee surgery on January 28, 2009. It has been a week and already I am raring to go and want to play. My foster Mom says none of that right now. I have to walk nice on a leash to be taken outside and then I have to come back in and go back in my large, comfy wire crate in the living room. I spend a lot of time chewing on this great nyla bone toy my foster Mom put in there for me. I go to the vet next week for my two week check up. I bet he says I'm doing great! I feel better that's for sure.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the first couple years of my life, I lived in a very small house with a very small yard and I didn't get out for walks or things like that. My owner was a young man who lived with his elderly relative. Neither of them could walk me as he was ill and she just couldn't handle my energy.
I didn't have any manners and the kind old woman couldn't really control me. Her daughter contacted BSRR and they recommended that I have some training from a trainer in Helena. So, I went to doggy boot camp for a month where I learned how to behave in the house, not to jump on people, sit, heel, down, stay, come, and how to wait at the door until told to go out or in. I hurt my knee just before going to training and had to be medicated and confined with limited exercise while at training.
Then I went back home where the fence around the small back yard was secured so I could not escape and local family members were recruited to take me on daily walks. My knee, however, got worse and worse and soon the walks stopped as they were afraid it hurt me more to walk. They checked into having surgery for me, but the cost was extremely expensive and the elderly woman simply couldn't afford it, so they decided the best thing for me was for BSRR to take me and get my knee fixed up and then find me a new home with a family that has the time and energy for a girl like me.
