BB is being listed as a referral to gain exposure for adoption from the Great Falls Shelter in MT. He is not a foster of Big Sky and all the information comes from his current foster from the shelter
When we took him home from the shelter we named him BB. He knows his name and responds well.
He is very treat motivated. He seems very young and pretty inexperienced. As I mentioned, he is very treat motivated and he does well on the leash and will sit and lay down. He is very affectionate and stays close. He does still need a lot of exercise to maintain good behavior but if properly exercised he is very eager and willing for training.
We introduced him to our dogs and he was playful and did not challenge them, but they challenged him and he responded in kind, there was no contact as we ended the meeting sessions there. We do not feel we will be able to integrate him into our pack because our dogs are jerks ;). He does not seem interested in our cat while the cat is in his kennel, but the cat also reacted strongly to him from inside the kennel and he responded, but only the one time early on, and now he ignores him when he walks by the kennel. He also ignores our dogs when he walks by their kennels and doesn’t care about our dogs when they are in the yard when he is on the outside of the fence. He seems only to respond if he feels he needs to defend himself but does not initiate aggression.
He has been neutered and is all healed up and has had his sutures removed.
He is medium sized and weighs about 70 lbs.
We think he is ready to move on to his forever home and we feel very lucky to have had him and share his love for this time J. He is going to be a fantastic Best Buddie for his person.
Oh, also, he does have what the vet thinks is a hematoma on his left hip…maybe from being hit by something before he came to the shelter. That’s all we know about it right now…currently observing it.
