Rose is being listed as a referral and is not in the foster program with Big Sky Rottwieler Rescue.
Any information is that of her owner.
I am an
active duty service member and am serving overseas for the next few
months. I am considering surrendering Rose due to my military lifestyle
not being in the best interest for the dog. She is an incredible pet, has
the sweetest personality and is loyal. Rose and I have went through some
drastic life changes over the last year to include moving from a house
with a large yard to an apartment to now her being located in Wyoming with
my parents while I serve overseas. Rose has not done well with change and
for her best interest I would like to find her a forever home where she
can find stability
Rose is spayed and is current on all vaccinations. I also have her registered as an emotional service animal and a dog DNA test showing she is 100% Rottweiler. She is good with people although a little wary at first, especially with men. I rescued Rose in Colorado springs 2 years ago and she was listed as a stray out of Pueblo, Colorado. It took her about 1 week to become comfortable with my self and my then husband and its clear she had come from a rough past. She is great with kids and most dogs, I have taken her to dog parks as well as family members houses where there are other dogs and live stock and she does fine. Rose is currently in Douglas, Wyoming with my parents and the issue with her staying with them in the meantime is she is no longer getting along with their dog and they must be separated.
She is by far the best dog I have ever had and having to seek this option for her is one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I have attached photos, let me know if you would like her ESA paperwork or veterinary record.
My parents dog has been around Rose since I have gotten her and there has never been an issue before. Out of nowhere one day, after about 5 months of living together my mom was watering the garden and the dogs got into an altercation what seemed out of nowhere. What my parents concluded is that they think Rose may have felt like my moms dog was maybe hurting my mom by jumping at the hose in her hand and Rose was trying to protect her. But, it scared my parents enough to keep them separated from then on out.
She has never displayed this type of behavior before and I think it may be due to so many changes in her environment. Since the incident, she has been reintroduced to other animals with caution such as a muzzle and leash and she has not shown any aggression since. I don’t know what this change means, but I know that this is not normal for her.
