The week before Thanksgiving, a beautiful little rottie was brought into the veterinary hospital where I work. She had been hit by a car, or so we assume by the road rash on her chin, several lacerations and nerve damage leaving her unable to use one of her front legs.  Even with all of these injuries, she has been a champ and a complete sweet heart, just a little on the shy side.  She spent the first several days with us in the hospital, getting to know everyone, and likewise, everyone getting to know her very sweet personality. After personally spending time with her, and giving her a good bath, Aurora came to live with my 9 yr old son Blake, my English Setter, Bodie, 2 parrots and myself.  She made her self at home very quickly once she got her bearings about her, and made immediate friends with both my son and my old dog.  After staying with us for the last two weeks, she has never left our side as long as she is allowed.  If we are hanging out watching tv, she wants to be on the couch next to us, and as soon as we get up to get a drink of water, she happily follows us, patiently waiting for our next move.  She doesn't necessarily like the her crate, but after a little protest she goes in with out struggle and sleeps through the whole night with out fuss.  The nerve damage that prevented her from walking well is healing very quickly, she is now able to cautiously put weight on it, especially when she's super excited about something.  Rorie's house manners have improved leaps and bounds in just a few weeks, although she still has a ways to go (she LOVES garbage!), I have complete faith that she will get it down extremely quickly.  She hasn't had any accidents in my house and appears to be completely house broken.  She has handled her baths well with out fuss and eats like a champ, she is very treat motivated!  While very curious about my parrots, she doesn't seem to be aggressive towards them at all, and she pays no attention to the chickens or geese in my back yard.  I'm sure that she would benefit greatly from some off leash training, as she loves to follow her nose, and turns her hearing off when she does.  She has shown no aggression towards anyone, or anything as long as I have had her.  I'm sure that Aurora will make someone an amazing and completely loyal companion and loving family member.
