Bo is a very nice dog - a rottweiler/pit bull mix. He came from a shelter in California. He was boarded in a Doggy Day Care facility in St. George, UT and they did an evaluation on him while he was there. This is what they had to say about Bo:
January 13, 2012
Behavior and temperament observation of BoJangles at Red Rock Pet Resort
Duration of stay: January 9 – January 14, 2012.
BoJangles checked in at Red Rock Pet Resort in St. George, UT on the night of January 9th. He was kenneled separately from the other dogs that night in our grooming room, and was let out the next morning separate from the others for a short time (about 15 minutes), since we didn’t know how he would interact with the other dogs.
In observing him during the time he was separated, he stood up against the fence, anxious to be with the other dogs, tail wagging, begging to go play. After all the dogs were fed for the morning he was let out with the others and interacted with them appropriately. He does show his dominance when he is challenged, but generally just gives a warning growl and snap, which is totally acceptable. He absolutely loves people and would follow us around all day.
He did have an incident with another dog where he nipped the other dog’s ear on January 12th. It was not a serious injury, however. The other dog has never been to our facility before and has a boisterous disposition, a Labradoodle. We’ve had to keep watch on this other dog because of his pushiness, so BoJangles really can’t be faulted for defending himself.
We hose down our facility frequently to keep it clean, and BoJangles shows some fear of water (hoses), so use caution when spraying around him. He eats well and has put on just a little weight since he’s been with us. He shows no sign of illness or anything else that would give us reason to believe he is not in good health, other than he needs to put on weight to balance out his body. His coat is shiny, his eyes are clear, and his ears appear to be healthy with no infections.
Because of his strength, I would not recommend him to a home where there are small dogs or small children. We do not know if he is good around older children, but he loves adults, particularly females. It appears he may need some obedience training since he jumps up on us, but he seems to be intelligent and would probably respond very well.
Please keep us informed as to how he is doing and when he is placed in a home. We’ve all bonded with him and care very much about his welfare!
Bojangles foster mom says he is doing better about not jumping up on people - he just needs some consistent training. He's learned to use the doggie door just fine and seems to enjoy the freedom of either staying indoors or going outside to play.
Bo has not been around cats or other animals.
