Kiara

We just received Kiara into rescue.  She will be vetted and we will have an update soon.

Kiara came to the shelter 9/13/2011. She is very mellow and easy going, they have had her out with other dogs and she does fine as long as they don’t jump all over her and get in her face. She was adopted out once and the kids were hanging all over her which she didn’t like so she was returned an hour later.  Go figure!  She is good with all the volunteers who come in to walk her.   No one has looked at her other that that one family in all the time she has been there.  She is not doing well in the shelter environment, getting depressed, just lays on her bed.  Nikki said her time is winding down, not due to space, but because they don’t feel it is in Kiara’s best interests mentally/emotionally for her to live in that environment for an extended period of time when she is obviously so depressed.  Nikki would like to find someone to adopt her or place her with a rescue that might be able to place her more quickly so she could get out of that environment.  Nikki says she is very sweet, but not very energetic and mostly just wants to be left alone.    They do not know how she is with cats or livestock, however, Nikki is guessing that due to her lack of energy she would not chase livestock.  We have found that Kiara is very fixated on cats so would recommed a home without cats.  Because of her size and not being around children in her past, would recommed a home with no children.
