We are in great need of fosters with Rottweiler experience. We are always aware of more Rottweilers in need than we can take into our current foster homes.
Why foster homes matter
Every Big Sky Rottweiler Rescue dog is evaluated in one of our foster homes before placement. Some dogs are in foster homes, some are referrals and some are in shelters: we try to get the dogs out before their time is up, but we only have limited foster homes. Each new foster home means another Rottweiler can be pulled to safety.
What fostering involves
- Giving a rescued Rottweiler a safe, stable home while it waits for its family
- Helping us get to know the dog’s personality before it is listed
- Working with our volunteers on vet visits, training and adoption days
Other ways foster families get support
Volunteers can help foster families too: be a “Santi-paws” foster to give a foster a break for a few hours or days, drive a dog to and from vet appointments, or pay the cost of taking a dog to obedience class. See How Can I Help? for many more ideas.
