I evaluated Anubis today over in Butte. He is a handsome, middle aged boy who is living in the garage with another big dog but they share the yard with a disabled bull dog and two small dogs. His winter coat shows he is not living the pampered life though the owner said they have a heat lamp for them but in Butte, sub zero temps are very common.
Anubis was very friendly after the initial “I’m a Rottweiler and this is my yard.” greeting and loves other dogs and kids as well as car rides. He is not good with cats. His hips show he is not living in ideal conditions and in a warm home and a few pounds of weight loss (he is 118 and should be about 112), this boy would be doing wonderful. He ran around the yard playing so it wasn’t as though he was impaired but I could see a little stiffness in his back left leg. Overall his temperament is very good and if I wasn’t limited to two dogs I would have loaded him up right then and there as I love the older dogs like him. He is six now and has several good years left in him.
His owner said they would gladly hold onto him until the ideal place is found as they just want to make sure he goes to a good home.
