Rottweilers needing Homes

All dogs have passed a temperament test, are current on vaccines, spayed or neutered. Our standard tax deductible donation upon adoption is $100.  This donation is used to spay/neuter, vaccinate, and treat other needy Rottweilers.  We are all volunteers, we do not receive monetary compensation for the time donated to this organization, the funds go toward the cost of rescuing the dogs,.  We have shelter fees, boarding expenses, medical expenses, training expenses, transportation expenses and more.  In order to keep helping the dogs, we need to cover some of these expenses, that is why we request an adoption donation.

Note: Some dogs are in foster homes, some are referrals and some are in shelters.  Only one shelter in MT is a no-kill, we try to get the dogs out before their time is up, but we only have limited foster homes.  Our list of dogs is constantly changing.  Please fill out an application if you are interested.

Some of our Special Dogs

LIBBY

Her name is Libby. I’m guessing she is about 3 years old and I’ve had her spayed. She wants to be a good watchdog and will bark at something strange but doesn’t just bark all the time so that’s good. Because of her past abusive history she has some stomach problems and requires a strict diet of dog food and not a lot of people food and other snacks as she gets diarrhea. Kept on a good quality kibble with some canned food and she does great. She is housetrained with a dog door but don’t know how she would do without a dog door. She has really come out of her shell. She is not hard to handle and loves to go for rides in the car. She loves to play with anything, especially rocks. She will spend hours pushing rocks around and packing them in her mouth. Also loves any kind of balls and toys that she can pick up and shake. Loves to shake the rugs too! she is a little touchy with her feet since she had broken toes. I don’t know about cats as I don’t have any. She has been around little kids a couple of times and was fine but I can’t be sure about that totally as I don’t have little kids either. She is good with male dogs but is a bit bitchy with other females. She is really a very happy go lucky girl now that she’s found out how wonderful life can be with food and love available all the time. An experienced rotty home would be best just because she will get excited and "mouth" your hand very gently once in a while. She has a lot of love to give, likes laying in your lap and loves massages. I would love to see her in a home with a single person or couple with just a male dog and no kids or cats and with active people that will spend a lot of time with her. I also want her to be an inside dog all the time because she gets panicked in the cold after having been left in 40 below wind chill factor weather for 8 days with no shelter, food or water. She has a lot of personality and is a real character. Loves to sleep on the bed and won’t get up until you are ready to get up – is great at sleeping in!! Contact BSRR or Kathy Hooper

STAR

Star has had a hard life. She needs a home that will continue to show her that humans can be something other than mean and spiteful. Star was starved when we saved her from the shelter. We got her the day she was to be PTS. Her backbone and hip bones stuck out. She was somewhat fearful and didn’t like fast movement. She is now has much of her confidence back and is a dominant female. We think she was chained or thrown in a kennel. She is learning to play and gets along with most other dogs, but wants to be dominant. She is tall for a female. She is between 2 and 3 years, we think. She will need an experienced, responsible owner, as she will try to be dominant, once in her place she listens well. She will walk nice on a leash, sit and follow some hand signals. We don’t think she has even known love or kindness up til now. If you think you are the right person for Star, please contact us. UPDATE 10/23 She is doing very well here. We put her out with two of our dogs in the kennel during the day and then they all come in when we get home from work. She listens pretty well and knows sit and down. She has been good with my kids, but is a little more interested in the cats than we would like, so we are going to work more on that. She is dominant and would most likely do best in a home with either another male dog or no other dogs. She is sleeping in a crate at night, because I don’t want her going after the cats and doing ok with that. She whines a little at first, but we just tell her that’s enough and to be quiet and she settles down. She has a lot of drive (not energy) and is food motivated, so it has been easy to work with her. She hasn’t chewed anything, not even the dog toys! She doesn’t really seem to have any interest in them, probably because she wasn’t played with as a younger dog. Star needs an experienced loving family to give her a home. Her foster family has little kids, other dogs and cats that she gets along with.

LADY

2- 2 1/2 year S/F very sweet gentle small but fat girl.  She gets along with other dogs, not too certain about cats.  Does good with kids. Lady came to me with a whole lot of problems and they still haven’t all been taken care of.  She had large cysts on her ovaries, and pyomeatria (sp).  I have a strong suspicion that she is hypothyroid and dysplastic.  Her goal in life is to lay on the floor next to someone’s feet.  She has leash manners but because of her soreness in her rear she doesn’t do well on long walks. Please be advised that we are volunteers. We all have full-time jobs, families, and animals of our own. Many of us work more hours doing rescue work than we do at our full-time jobs.  While we make every effort to process applications and return phone calls immediatley, this may not always happen.  Please, be patient with us. Emergency medical calls and calls about the safety of our animals take priority.   Application processing time averages two weeks

These are only SOME of our dogs, our list of dogs is constantly changing.  Please fill out an application if you are interested.
